Detroit Diesel — Fuel Filter Removal

Before you start
- FIRE: keep all potential ignition sources away from diesel fuel.
Procedure
- Disconnect the batteries.
- Open the fuel tank fill cap to release pressure; replace and tighten the cap.
- Clean the outside of the main fuel filter housing.
- Using a 36-mm socket, unscrew the cap and lift the filter element a short distance; allow fuel to drain.
- Remove the filter element from the cap, clean the cap, and discard the element and cap O-ring.
