Detroit Diesel — Exhaust Valve Clearance Adjustment (Hot Engine)

Procedure
- With engine at normal operating temperature, recheck exhaust valve clearance with feeler gage J 9708-01.
- If clearance is correct, a .012" feeler gage will pass freely between the valve button and the valve bridge.
- After exhaust valve clearance has been adjusted, check the fuel injector timing (Section 14.2).
