Before you start

  • To avoid damage to turbocharger, cover the turbocharger outlet opening to prevent foreign material from entering

Procedure

  1. Disconnect coolant delivery hose located close to water pump
  2. Disconnect electric fan-clutch connector close to water pump
  3. Dismantle air bellow from upper bracket of fan-drive assembly tensioner
  4. Remove upper bracket (4, Fig. 16)
  5. If necessary, remove fan drive from motor compartment by removing four retaining bolts, washers and nuts securing fan drive to floor
  6. Disconnect and remove air intake duct mounted between turbocharger outlet and air cooler inlet
  7. Disconnect two vent hoses from thermostat housing and from coolant pipe assembly
  8. Disconnect and remove section of coolant pipe assembly mounted between thermostat housings and radiator inlet
  9. Disconnect and remove small hose connected to heater line valve and to water pump
  10. Disconnect small heater hose located on cylinder head at back of engine
  11. Disconnect and remove exhaust pipe mounted between turbocharger outlet and exhaust bellows
  12. Disconnect block heater connector above power steering pump

Specs & torque values

  • 18-22 Lbf·ft (25-30 N·m)
