Detroit Diesel — Change Hydraulic Filter Element

Maintenance

From a Detroit Diesel service manual — check it applies to your exact model before use.

Before you start

  • Do not take a gauge reading when any of the hydraulic cylinders are being operated.

Procedure

  1. Change the 10 micron filter element on the side of the fluid reservoir.
  2. Change after the first month of operation or when the gauge indicates filtering restriction.
  3. Make subsequent element changes each 250 engine hours to assure good fluid passage.

Specs & values

  • Change element when gauge reading stays above 15 at all times (engine at full throttle, fluid hot, no component operated)
