Before you start
- AVOID STRETCHING BELTS. LOOSEN ADJUSTING SCREW UNTIL BELTS GO INTO POSITION EASILY.
Procedure
- Removal:
- 1. Drain cooling system.
- 2. Loosen clamp and disconnect hose at water pump inlet connection.
- 3. Loosen water pump belt enough to slip belt from pulley sheaves.
- 4. Remove capscrews holding pump to gear housing.
- 5. Remove pump from engine by separating from water by-pass coupling and oil cooler connection.
- Installation:
- 1. Install new rubber O rings on oil cooler connection and water by-pass coupling.
- 2. Lift pump into position; install lockwashers and capscrews holding pump to gear housing.
- 3. Adjust water pump belt tension as described.
- 4. Fill cooling system and start engine to check for leaks.
