Before you start

  • Don't turn the adjusting screws tightly into their seats or damage may result.

Procedure

  1. Turn idle adjusting screw entirely in (clockwise) then back it out 3/4 turn.
  2. Start the power unit; after normal operating temperature, adjust throttle stop screw (B) so it clears the stop about 1/3 turn when running without load.
  3. At about full load and normal temperature, turn power adjusting screw (E) in slowly until frequency drops noticeably.
  4. Turn screw (E) out one notch at a time until frequency rises to normal and unit runs smoothly.
  5. Note the screw position then turn it out 1/4 turn further for cold starting.
  6. For a new carburetor, approximate adjustment of screw (E) is 1-1/4 turns out from closed.
