Before you start

  • Maintain proper oil level during priming

Procedure

  1. Disconnect wire from fuel solenoid valve
  2. Close throttle
  3. Crank engine while maintaining an external prime pressure of 15 psi (103 kPa) for 15 seconds
  4. Remove external priming equipment
  5. Replace plug in filter housing and torque to 15 to 20 ft-lb
  6. Reconnect wire to fuel shutoff valve
  7. Complete oil fill to H (high) mark on dipstick

Tools required

  • Priming equipment capable of 15 psi pressure
  • Socket wrench

Specs & torque values

  • External prime pressure: 15 psi (103 kPa)
  • Cranking duration: 15 seconds
  • Filter plug torque: 15 to 20 ft-lb
