Before you start
- Dressing the slip rings on a lathe improperly may damage the rotor.
- Only an experienced technician should perform this job.
Procedure
- Examine the slip rings while servicing the brushes.
- Inspect slip rings for grooves, pits, or other damage.
- If rings need cleaning or service, remove the rotor from the generator set.
- Dress the rings on a lathe.
- Clean accumulated dust with filtered low-pressure air.
