Before you start
- Do not drill through the end plate.
Procedure
- Loosen pump end plate screws and remove end plate.
- Pull impeller out with pliers or by prying with screwdrivers, avoiding damage to body.
- Remove pump from engine by removing two capscrews on mounting base.
- Remove snap ring from end of shaft.
- Remove shaft assembly by tapping lightly on drive end of shaft with a brass or wood dowel.
- Pull seal and spring assembly off drive end of shaft.
- Insert drive end of shaft into impeller end and tap until bearing is out; remove oil slinger or O-ring.
- Insert impeller end of shaft into engine end and tap until seal is out.
- Remove graphite bushing in end plate by drilling if needed.
