Procedure

  1. 1. Operate the generator set as it is intended to be operated. However, for the first 1-1/2 hours, if possible, run the generator set at 50 percent capacity, occasionally operating at full power for brief periods. Avoid prolonged low-power operation during break-in.
  2. 2. Make sure the engine has oil of the proper viscosity for the ambient temperature. See Engine Oil Recommendations.
  3. 3. Check the oil level twice a day or after every 4 hours of operation during the first 20 hours of operation. Change the engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation.
