Cummins/Onan — Using the Recoil Starter

For these Cummins/Onan models: EGMBT, EGMBT (P4500), EGMBU, EGMBU (P5000E), EGMBU (P5000e), P24500 (Spec A), P5000e (Spec A).

Procedure

  1. 1. Open the fuel valve (see Figure 6).
  2. 2. Pull the choke rod out to close the choke if the engine is cold (see Figure 7).
  3. 3. Verify that the On/Off switch is in the ON position.
  4. 4. With one hand on the generator, grip the recoil handle with the other hand and pull it out
