Before you start
- Do not install the radiator cap during flushing
- Do not use caustic cleaners; aluminum components will be damaged
Procedure
- Fill system with mixture of sodium carbonate and water (0.5 kg per 23 liters).
- Operate engine 5 minutes with coolant temperature above 80 C [176 F].
- Shut engine off and drain cooling system.
- Fill cooling system with clean water.
- Operate engine 5 minutes above 80 C [176 F] and drain.
- Repeat flush until water drained is clean.
Specs & values
- Use 0.5 kilograms [1.0 lb.] sodium carbonate for every 23 liters [6.0 U.S. Gallons] of water
