  • Do not turn bumper screw far enough to increase engine speed

Procedure

  1. Have unit at normal operating temperature; keep governor drive belt at proper tension (about 1 inch deflection midway between pulleys).
  2. Adjust throttle rod so throttle lever is 1/64 inch from wide-open stop.
  3. Loosen bumper-spring-screw locknut and turn bumper-spring screw out to prevent its functioning.
  4. Loosen spring-slide shoulder screws; loosen spring-slide adjusting screw locknut and turn screw for correct speed.
  5. At no load, frequency should not exceed 63 cycles and voltage not over 126 or 252 volts.
  6. If surging under load, adjust governor spring eyebolt downward until surging stops.
  7. If surging at no load, turn bumper screw in until surging stops; tighten all locknuts.
