Cummins/Onan DF Series — Generator Voltage Adjustment and Checking

For the Cummins/Onan DF Series.

Applies to: Cummins Onan Df Series

Procedure

  1. Move the Run/Stop/Remote switch on the engine control panel to the RUN position.
  2. Operate Phase Selector switch to read generator voltage.
  3. Check line-to-line voltages (L1-L2 on single phase sets; L1-L2, L2-L3, and L3-L1 on three phase sets).
  4. Verify reading matches set nameplate rating.
  5. Adjust voltage using internal or external control panel mounted potentiometers.
  6. Verify frequency meter reading matches nameplate rating (50 or 60 Hz).
  7. Check AC ammeter with phase selector switch at each phase selection.
  8. Verify at no load, current readings are zero and with load applied, each line current is approximately the same.

Tools required

  • Phase selector switch
  • Voltmeter

Specs & torque values

  • Within 5% of rated nameplate voltage
