Procedure

  1. Isolate the rotor windings by disconnecting the two leads to the brush holder.
  2. Connect test leads between each ring and the rotor shaft in turn.
  3. Meter should register 100,000 ohms or greater.
  4. If less than 100,000 ohms, rotor is questionable.
  5. Thoroughly dry the rotor and retest.
  6. Replace a grounded rotor with a new identical part.

Tools required

  • Digital ohmmeter

Specs & torque values

  • 100,000 ohms or greater
