Cummins/Onan — Fuel System Priming and Filter Replacement

Before you start

  • Use only clean fuel when priming
  • Do not over-tighten filters

Procedure

  1. Remove each fuel filter
  2. Fill clean fuel into filter
  3. Put a light coat of fuel on the sealing gasket
  4. Install and tighten by hand until the gasket just touches the filter head
  5. Tighten the filter an additional one-half to three-fourths of a turn

Tools required

  • Filter wrench (if needed)

Specs & torque values

  • Filter tightness: hand tightened until gasket just touches, then additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn
