Before you start
- Too tight a belt will have a short life and cause excessive strain and wear on water pump bearings; too loose a belt will slip and cause inefficient cooling.
Procedure
- Loosen the two lock bolts on the fan pulley.
- Turn the front half of the pulley clockwise to narrow the groove and tighten the belt.
- Turn the pulley counterclockwise to widen the groove and lessen tension.
- Allow 3/4 in. play in the belt.
- Tighten the adjustment lock screws properly.
