Before you start
- Spring will kink if brush is pulled out past mounted spring.
Procedure
- Remove end cover for access to exciter brushes.
- Do not dismount brush rig from end bell.
- Disconnect and mark leads as necessary.
- Lift brushes from commutator.
- Remove brush spring and plate before removing brush.
- Replace brush if worn to 1/2 inch in length or top below midway in guide.
