Cummins/Onan — Service Procedure

For these Cummins/Onan models: 3.6MKY, 4MKY.

Applies to: Cummins Onan 3 6Mky, Cummins Onan 4Mky

Before you start

  • The brushes will be damaged
  • Careless handling of the stator

Procedure

  1. Position the stator so the output connector
  2. Align the pin in the rotor shaft with the notch in
  3. Plug in both stator wire connectors.
  4. Prepare the endbell for installation. Lubricate
  5. Center the brush block on the slip rings and
  6. Install the fan onto the rotor shaft and align the
  7. Install the fan housing assembly.
  8. Remove the wooden block from under the sta-
  9. Install the muffler assembly using new gas-
  10. Reconnect the load, fuel pump, and ground
  11. Inspect the assembly, check all electrical and
  12. Install the genset, securely fastening all mount-
