Cummins/Onan — Service Procedure

Before you start

Procedure

  1. First drain the engine oil and then remove the
  2. Remove the cover from the genset. (Remove

  4. Remove the engine/generator-to-base mount-
  5. Disconnect all leads from the start relay and re-
  6. Carefully lift the generator end of the genset
  7. Remove the fan housing assembly from the
  8. Secure the fan so that it cannot rotate and re-
  9. Use a magnet to pull out the fan-to-shaft align-
  10. Disconnect the wire harness leads from the

Tools required

  • the wheel puller to the fan hub with three
  • ment key and save it for reassembly. Remove
  • the fan with a wheel puller (Figure 7-2) Attach

Specs & torque values

  • 7-7/8 inches (200 mm) long by 0.45 inches
  • hole (Figure 7-4). Thread a 9/16-12 x 1 inch
  • (11 mm) in diameter into the rotor through bolt
