Cummins/Onan — Service Procedure

For these Cummins/Onan models: DKG, RGA-IN1.

Procedure

  1. Slide the exciter rotor over the generator shaft
  2. Connect the generator field leads to F1+ and
  3. Press the new end bearing onto the rotor shaft
  4. Assemble the rotor fan and drive disc to the en-
  5. Install the air baffle.
  6. Using a hoist and safe lifting device, carefully
  7. Install the end bell stud bolts through the stator
  8. Install end bell assembly on the stator with the
  9. Torque end bell stud nuts to 20 ft-lbs (27 N•m}.
  10. Using a lead hammer, tap the end bell at the
  11. Feed stator and control leads through opening
  12. Connect all applicable control leads (F1 , F2,
  13. Reconnect the AC voltage regulator plug. At-
  14. Install the end bell cover.
  15. Connect the stator wires to the load wires.
  16. Connect the negative(-) battery cable and test

Tools required

  • Torque end bell stud nuts.
  • TORQUE TO 23-26 INCH LBS
  • and apply the torque values shown in Figure
  • FIGURE 4-7. ROTOR ASSEMBLY AND TORQUE VALUES
  • TORQUE TO 2Q-22
  • 9. Torque end bell stud nuts to 20 ft-lbs (27 N•m}.
  • the torque values shown in Figure 4-7.
  • TORQUE TO 130-150
