Procedure

  1. Remove the rotor assembly and place it on a
  2. Remove the bolts that hold the drive disc and
  3. Use a gear puller to remove the end bearing
  4. Clamp the rotor in a fixed position and remove
  5. Remove the generator field leads from the ex-
  6. Slide the exciter rotor over the generator shaft
  7. 7.
  8. Connect the generator field leads to F1+ and
  9. 7
  10. Press the new end bearing onto the rotor shaft
  11. Assemble the rotor fan and drive disc to the en-
  12. Install the air baffle.
  13. Using a hoist and safe lifting device, carefully
  14. Install the end bell stud bolts through the stator
  15. Install end bell assembly on the stator with the
  16. Torque end bell stud nuts to 20 ft-lbs (27 N•m}.
  17. Using a lead hammer, tap the end bell at the
  18. Feed stator and control leads through opening
  19. Connect all applicable control leads (F1 , F2,
  20. Reconnect the AC voltage regulator plug. At-
  21. Install the end bell cover.
  22. Connect the stator wires to the load wires.
  23. Connect the negative(-) battery cable and test
  24. Generator/Regulator Troubleshooting
  25. 1

Tools required

  • WOODRUFF KEY
  • 15. Use a gear puller to remove the end bearing
  • and woodruff key. Install the exciter lock nut

Specs & torque values

  • 9. Torque end bell stud nuts to 20 ft-lbs (27 N•m}.
