From a Cummins/Onan owner's manual covering: GTA8.3, GTA8.3 CD1, GTAR 3. Check it applies to your exact model before use.

Applies to: Cummins/Onan GTA8.3 engine

Before you start

  • Applying excessive force in the opposite direction of wind-up or after the tensioner has been wound up to the positive stop can cause the tensioner arm to break.

Procedure

  1. Lift the tensioner arm and pulley to remove and install the belt.
  2. The belt tensioner winds in the direction that the spring tang is bent over the tensioner body.
  3. To loosen the tension on the belt, rotate the tensioner to wind the spring tighter.
