Procedure

1. Remove the 3/8 capscrew behind the gear cov- er and under the governor arm.
2. Remove the spring and plunger with a magnet- ic tool and clean them.
3. Replace the plunger if its diameter is not
4. Replace the spring if its free length is not approximately 1 inch (25.4 mm) or if it does not take 2.4-2.8 pounds (10.7-12.5 N) to compress it 0.5 inch (12.7 mm).
