Cummins/Onan — Connecting Battery and Bonding Cables

Before you start
- Reversing battery connections can lead to battery charger failure (if so equipped).
- Accidental starting of the genset can cause severe personal injury or death. Do not connect the starting battery until Installation Review and Startup.
Procedure
- Before connecting the battery and genset, clearly and permanently mark the polarity of the battery cables.
- Mark one cable positive (+) on both ends and the other cable negative (-) on both ends. Mark bonding cables negative (-) on both ends.
- Making sure battery cables are NOT yet connected at the battery, connect the positive (+) cable to the POS terminal on the genset and the negative (-) cable and bonding cables to the NEG terminal on t
- Connect the battery cables to the battery only at STARTUP.
