Before you start

  • Do not use a chemical solution or solvent that will damage the parts
  • Avoid damage to precision machined surfaces

Procedure

  1. Place all parts in a divided wire basket so parts are not damaged through contact.
  2. Use only an approved cleaning solvent; parts may also be washed in hot water and soap, mineral spirits or steam cleaned.
  3. Use a soft bristle brush; never a wire brush or stiff bristle brush.
  4. Flush oil passages in the bearing housing from the drain end.
  5. Optionally leave parts in approved cleaning solvent 12 to 24 hours, then pump solvent through passages again.
  6. Drain and steam clean parts to remove all carbon and grease.
  7. Blow off excess water and dry with moisture free compressed air.
  8. Place parts carefully in a clean basket to avoid damage and dirt.
