Procedure
- Connect the fully-charged battery (verify charge condition with the hydrometer).
- Connect the voltmeter directly to the battery terminals.
- Measure battery voltage. If above recommended float voltage, go to step 4; if below, go to step 7.
- Open right cabinet door of automatic transfer switch.
- Insert a small screwdriver through the hole in battery charger module 6; turn counterclockwise in small increments to decrease float voltage.
- After five minutes, measure battery terminal voltage again; repeat steps 5 and 6 until voltage stabilizes. Proceed to step 11.
- Open right cabinet door of automatic transfer switch.
- Note charge current rate on charge ammeter on meter-lamp panel.
- Insert a small screwdriver through hole in module 6; turn clockwise in small increments to increase float voltage.
- In approximately one hour or when charge current decreases to the initial value, recheck battery terminal voltage; repeat steps 8 through 10 until stable.
- Check the battery with a hydrometer and terminal voltage periodically during the first few weeks; readjust float charge rate if necessary.
- Close the cabinet door.
