Adjustments

For the Cummins/Onan 6.5NH - 3CR / 6000 A, from the Cummins/Onan service manual.

Applies to: Cummins/Onan NH engine

Before you start

  • Do not attempt adjustments until the engine has been shut down for at least one hour.

Procedure

  1. Shut the engine down for at least one hour; adjustment must be made at ambient temperature.
  2. Loosen the screw securing the choke actuating arm to the linkage.
  3. Shortening the actuating arm makes the fuel mixture richer; lengthening makes it leaner.
  4. Above 85 F the choke should be fully opened; below 25 F the choke should be opened 1/4 inch with the solenoid not engaged.
  5. Tighten the screw securing the choke actuating arm to the linkage.
