Before you start
- Never bend the constant-pressure brush spring over the edge of its support.
Procedure
- Install new commutator and collector ring brushes when worn to 5/8 inch in length.
- Remove the band and three screws to expose the brushes.
- Remove the brush blocks to install new brushes.
- Always use the correct brush as listed in the parts list; never substitute a similar appearing brush.
- Tighten the brush lead terminal nuts.
- If brush sparking occurs after replacing brushes, run the set at light load until the brushes wear to a good seat.
