Before you start

  • Four seals are used between frame (field) assembly and engine-to-generator adapter; these must be used when reassembling or the generator will overheat.

Procedure

  1. Remove power plant from slide rails.
  2. Remove all accessories attached to the generator.
  3. Tag and remove all leads.
  4. Loosen and lift out both brush rigs.
  5. Remove four generator through-stud nuts.
  6. Lift or pull end bell from frame assembly.
  7. Remove frame (field) assembly.
  8. Remove 12-point armature hold-down nut.
  9. Loosen armature with an end-wise blow on armature shaft.
