Procedure

  1. Open, lock-out and tag-out all sources of power to the immediate work area.
  2. Disable the starting system: move switch to 0, disconnect battery charger, remove negative battery cable, install lockout device.

  4. Using two pre-tested voltage detection devices, verify de-energized condition (retest devices afterward).
  5. Remove the metal cover from the generator output box to access load terminals.
  6. Install the Grounding Cluster ground clamp to a verified grounded conductor.
  7. Leave grounds connected at least one minute so static charge can dissipate.
  8. Remove ground cluster; perform PI and/or other stator winding tests; reconnect grounds if more service needed.
  9. When work is complete, remove the Grounding Cluster in reverse order of installation.
  10. After clearance from all personnel, remove all lock-out devices in reverse order.
