Cummins — 4.Remove the two cap-screws and heavy washers

Procedure

1. 5. Remove the four cap-screws that hold the housing to
2. the water pump. Note that the two washers are
3. heavy washers.
4. 6. Remove the support brackets. Pull the housing from
5. the pump.
6. 7. Remove and discard the o-ring seal.
7. Remove the Water Pump.
8. 8. Remove the four cap-screws that hold the adapter
9. plate to the cylinder block.
10. Caution: This component weighs 23 kg [50lb.] or
11. more. To avoid personal injury, use a hoist or get
12. assistance to lift this component.
13. 9. Remove the four cap-screws that hold the pump to
14. the water pump drive.
15. 10. Remove the pump and the coupling.
16. 11. Remove the plate from the pump.
17. 12. Remove and discard the o-ring and gasket.
18. 13. Check the water pump for reuse.
19. Install the Water Pump.
20. 14. Install the o-ring seal in the groove in the water
21. pump adapter plate. Use vegetable oil to lubricate
22. the o-ring.
23. Note: The adapter plate must be installed so that th
24. groove in the plate is toward the pump.
25. 15. Install the adapter plate on the water pump.
