Before you start

  • Note: Observe which of the holes in the bracket are

Procedure

  1. 6. Install the belt.

  4. 7. Rotate the idler against the spring tension until the
  5. cap-screw holes are aligned.
  6. 8. Install the cap-screws. Tighten the cap-screws to 45
  7. Nem [85 ft-lb].
  8. 9. Slowly turn the wrench until the idler is against the
  9. belt.
  10. 10. Install the shock absorber.
  11. Fan Hub - Remove and Install
  12. Preparatory Steps:
  13. 1. Remove the fan.
  14. 2. Remove the fan belt.
  15. Caution: This assembly weighs 23 kg [50ib.] or
  16. more. To avoid personal injury, use a hoist or get
  17. assistance to lift this component.
  18. 3. Remove the four SAE Grade 8 cap-screws.
  19. Note: Observe which of the holes in the bracket are
  20. used. Different holes are used for different fan cen-
  21. ters.
  22. 4. Clean and check the fan hub for reuse. Rotate the
  23. pulley to check for rough or damaged bearings.
  24. 5. Check bearing end clearance.
