Before you start

  • Keep all parts clean from contaminants.
  • Do not reuse the O-ring seals on the rocker arm adjustment screws if the buttons have been removed from the adjustment screws.

Procedure

  1. Install the O-ring seals in button (6) and button (4).
  2. Install the O-ring seals and the buttons on the valve rocker arms: support valve rocker arm (7) in a vise with soft jaws; position the O-ring seal and button (6) on the round end of adjustment screw (5); use a soft hammer to seat button (6) on adjustment screw (5).
  3. Install the O-ring seals and the buttons on the unit injector rocker arms: support unit injector rocker arms (2) in a vise with soft jaws; put the O-ring seal and button (4) in position on the end of adjustment screw (1); use a soft hammer to seat button (4) on adjustment screw (1).
  4. Repeat the steps above for the remainder of the rocker arm assemblies.
  5. Lubricate rocker shaft (3) with clean engine oil and install the assembled rocker arms on rocker shaft (3).
  6. End By: Install the rocker arms and the rocker shaft.
