Caterpillar — Hose Inspection and Replacement Procedure

For these Caterpillar models: C15 Generator Set, EMCP 3, SEBU7909-01, SEBU7969-01.

Before you start

  • During engine operation, proper installation prevents vibration, rubbing against other parts, and heat damage

Procedure

  1. Inspect all clamps, guards, and heat shields for correct installation
  2. Replace hoses if end fittings are damaged or leaking
  3. Replace hoses if outer coverings are chafed or cut
  4. Replace hoses if wires are exposed
  5. Replace hoses if outer coverings are ballooning
  6. Replace hoses if flexible part is kinked
  7. Replace hoses if outer covers have embedded armoring
  8. Replace hoses if end fittings are displaced
  9. Ensure all clamps, guards, and heat shields remain installed during engine operation to prevent vibration and rubbing
