Before you start
- Keep all parts clean from contaminants.
- Do not machine the prefinished valve seat inserts in order to correct the valve projection. Excessive valve projection indicates that the valve seat insert is not seated or material was not cleaned from the bottom of the counterbore.
Procedure
- Start By: Remove the inlet and exhaust valves.
- Removal: Use Tooling (Valve Seat Extractor) to remove the valve seat inserts from the cylinder head.
- Removal: Clean the bores in the cylinder head for the valve seat inserts. Remove any rough areas from the bores.
- Installation: Lower the temperature of new valve seat inserts (1).
- Installation: Use Tooling (Valve Seat Driver) to install the new valve seat inserts in the cylinder head.
- End By: Install the inlet and exhaust valves.
