Before you start
- Be sure the exhaust valve bridge is properly located on the exhaust valve stem; valve stem must fit in the counterbore of the bridge on the side without the adjusting screw. Failure will result in serious engine damage.
Procedure
- While pressing straight down on the bridge pad, turn the adjusting screw clockwise until contact is made with the valve stem.
- Advance the screw an additional 1/8 turn (45 deg.) to straighten the bridge on the guide.
- Hold the adjusting screw in this position and tighten the locknut to 18 lbft. (25 N-m).
