Before you start

  • Exceeding 1.5 in. deflection of the actuator arm may cause switch damage resulting in engine brake malfunction.

Procedure

  1. Mount the clutch switch in a convenient, accessible location (cab under dash, under floor wheel well, or bell housing area).
  2. Install the switch with the switch actuator arm in contact with the clutch pedal arm or other clutch member.
  3. Adjust the switch by moving it along the mounting bracket; actuator arm should be deflected 1.0 - 1.5 in. (25 - 38 mm) with clutch pedal up.
  4. Check installation by moving the clutch pedal; the switch should click in the freeplay motion before clutch disengagement.
  5. Connect one wire from the clutch switch to pin "A" in the J-7 electrical connector; connect the other wire to pin "G".
