Before you start

  • Do not stack shims unless necessary; never stack more than 2 shims.
  • Never separate the spindle from the front axle with a jack while the track is tensioned.

Procedure

  1. Detension the track using the correct procedure.
  2. Remove shims and determine the existing shim angles from the table or by measuring thickness.
  3. Calculate the new shim angle needed from the temperature differentials.
  4. Install the new shims and reassemble the undercarriage in reverse order, then re-tension the track.
  5. Recheck alignment by running the machine 10-15 min in gear 10F and checking the temperature differential again.
