Caterpillar 3406 — Magnetic Pickup Inspection/Adjustment

Procedure

1. Remove magnetic pickup from flywheel housing and check magnet condition
2. Clean metal shavings/debris from magnet face
3. Install pickup turning threads CW until magnet contacts ring gear tooth
4. Back out pickup 1-1/2 turn (180+/-15 degrees) for clearance
5. Tighten locknut to 45+/-7 N-m (33+/-5 lb ft)
