Procedure
- Remove the turbocharger air inlet and the exhaust outlet piping.
- Rotate the compressor and turbine wheel by hand.
- The assembly should rotate freely. Feel for excessive end play and radial clearance.
- End play is best checked with a dial indicator. End play should be between .003 inch (0.07 mm) and .008 inch (0.203 mm). If end play exceeds .008 inches (0.203 mm) rebuild or replace the turbocharger.
