Caterpillar 3406 — Clean Engine Crankcase Breather

Procedure

1. Loosen the hose clamp on the breather tube.
2. Loosen the breather retaining clamp and remove the breather.
3. Inspect the seal on the breather. Replace it if it is damaged.
4. Wash the breather in clean nonflammable solvent.
5. Shake the breather to remove excess solvent, and allow the breather to dry.
6. Install the clean breather and tighten the retaining clamp. Install the hose and tighten the hose clamp.
