Caterpillar 3126B / 3126B Industrial Engine — Fuel System Primary Filter/Water Separator Element - Replace

Procedure

1. Stop the engine. Turn the start switch to the OFF position.
2. Shut off the fuel tank supply valve to the engine.
3. If equipped with a drain valve, open it to drain fuel from the filter case, then close it.
4. Remove the fuel filter bowl and wash it with clean diesel fuel.
5. Remove the fuel filter.
6. Clean the gasket sealing surface of the fuel filter base. Ensure all of the old gasket is removed.
7. Apply clean diesel fuel to the new fuel filter gasket.
8. Install the new fuel filter. Spin on until the gasket contacts the base. Tighten an additional 3/4 turn by hand.
9. Install the clean fuel filter bowl on the new fuel filter.
10. Open the fuel tank supply valve.
11. Start the engine and check for leaks. Run one minute and check again.
