Procedure

1. Observe service indicator. Clean or replace element when yellow diaphragm enters red zone or red piston locks visible.
2. Test indicator: should reset in less than three pushes.
3. Check yellow core latches at greatest vacuum when engine accelerated to rated speed.
4. Replace indicator annually or when overhauled. Tighten to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
