CASE — Air Conditioning System Refrigerant Charging and Testing

Before you start

  • DO NOT USE OTHER REFRIGERANT TYPES

Procedure

  1. Pressure test the system using nitrogen to 250 psi. Check for leaks.
  2. Add 2oz SP20 Sanden PAG oil.
  3. Vacuum the system for at least 1/2 hour.
  4. Check that vacuum holds.
  5. Fill with 2.75-3 lbs R134a refrigerant.
  6. Test system and check thermostat cycling.

Tools required

  • Pressure test equipment (nitrogen)
  • Vacuum pump

Specs & torque values

  • 2oz SP20 Sanden PAG oil
  • 2.75-3 lbs R134a refrigerant
