Procedure

  1. 13. Set Digital Multimeter to read ohms.
  2. 14. See Figure C4. Connect one meter test lead to Wire 11, and the other to Wire 22. Measure
  3. 15. See Figure C5. Connect one meter test lead to Wire 22, and the other to Wire 44. Measure
  4. 16. Compare results obtained in steps 14-15. Based on meter quality, readings should be approximately
  5. A. Yes- Move to step 17.
  6. B. No- Low resistance indicates a shorted stator winding, while high resistance or infinity (OL) is an
  7. 17. See Figure C6. Connect one meter test lead to Wire 11, and the other to a proper engine ground.
  8. 18. See Figure C7. Connect one meter test lead to Wire 44, and the other to a proper engine ground.
  9. 19. Is a reading of infinity (OL) obtained in steps 17-18?
