Procedure

  1. 20. Obtain two Ignition Testers (Part No. 19368).
  2. 21. Remove spark plug cables from spark plug terminals.
  3. 22. Install free end of spark plug cables onto
  4. 23. Press and hold MANUAL on control panel to start engine.
  5. 24. Is spark present?
  6. A. Yes- Ignition is functioning properly. Move to step 25.
  7. B. No- Verify spark tester is properly installed and repeat steps 23-24. If spark is still not present,
  8. 25. Press OFF on control panel and remove 15 Amp fuse.
  9. 26. Remove tester alligator clips from engine grounds and install on spark plug terminals.
  10. 27. Install 15 Amp fuse in control panel, and press and hold MANUAL to start engine.
  11. 28. Is spark present?
  12. A. Yes- Ignition is functioning properly. Move to Test 12: Check Crankcase Vacuum (step 30).
  13. B. No- Move to step 29.
  14. 29. Thoroughly clean area around spark plugs to keep dirt out of the combustion chamber. Remove
  15. A. Verify spark plug type is RC12YC.
  16. B. Verify spark plug is in good condition.
  17. C. Verify spark plug gap is 0.020 inch (0.508 mm).
  18. D. Are all of the above conditions observed?
