Procedure

  1. 7. Set Digital Multimeter to read DC volts.
  2. 8. See Figure B1. Disconnect Wire 14 at fuel solenoid. Connect positive (+) meter test lead to socket
  3. 9. Measure DC Volts at fuel solenoid while engine is cranking. Is voltage equal to or greater than 9.6
  4. A. Yes- Move to step 10.
  5. B. No- Move to step 15.
  6. 10. Remove pipe plug from fuel pressure regulator test port and install Briggs & Stratton Crankcase
  7. 11. Verify the fuel supply valves are open.
  8. 12. See Figure B2. Disconnect Wire 14 at fuel solenoid. Connect jumper wire from battery (+) to fuel
  9. 13. Observe manometer gauge. Is fuel pressure 11-14 inches w. c. (LP) or 3.5-7 inches w. c. (NG)?
  10. A. Yes- Move to Test 10: Check Fuel Pressure Regulator (step 17).
  11. B. No- Low fuel pressure. Repair or replace fuel delivery system. Retest.
  12. C. No- No fuel pressure. Install new fuel solenoid. Retest.
  13. 14. Connect Wire 14 at fuel solenoid.
  14. 15. Set Digital Multimeter to read DC volts.
  15. 16. See Figure B3. Connect positive (+) meter test lead to Pin 4 (Wire 14) of Connector J3. Connect
  16. A. Yes- Repair or replace Wire 14 between
  17. B. No- Install new control panel. Retest.
