Procedure

  1. B. No- Stator excitation winding shorted to ground. Install new stator. Retest.
  2. 23. See Figure C11. Connect meter test leads to brush wires (Wire 1 and Wire 4).
  3. 24. Measure the rotor resistance. Is resistance 10-25 Ohms?
  4. A. Yes- Move to step 26.
  5. B. No- A very low resistance may indicate a shorted rotor. A reading of infinity or a very high
  6. 25. See Figure C12. Disassemble generator as necessary to gain access to rotor slip rings. Is resistance
  7. A. Yes- Repair or replace brushes and/or wiring. Retest.
  8. B. No- Install new rotor. Retest.
  9. 26. See Figure C13. Connect one meter test lead to either brush wire (Wire 1 or Wire 4), and the other
  10. A. Yes- Move to Test 18: Perform AVR Bypass Tests (step 27).
  11. B. No- Rotor winding shorted to rotor shaft. Install new rotor. Retest.
