Basler — Parallel Operation Sequence

Operation · Generator sets

From a Basler service manual — check it applies to your exact model before use.

Procedure

  1. Start generator set No. 1.
  2. Close circuit breaker connecting it to the bus.
  3. Adjust its voltage and frequency to nominal.
  4. Apply load (10% or more of kW rating if possible).
  5. Start generator set No. 2.
  6. Adjust its voltage to nominal.
  7. Adjust its speed slightly higher than No. 1's.
  8. Observing synchroscope, close circuit breaker No. 2 when in phase.
  9. Verify ammeter reading for set No. 2 is within rating.
  10. Adjust speed of No. 2 for desired kW share.
  11. Adjust voltage of No. 2 until ammeter readings of both sets are near minimum.
  12. If KVAR or power factor meters available, adjust voltage adjust rheostat for equal/proportional readings.
  13. With full load applied, readjust speed and voltage on No. 2 until desired load division obtained.

Specs & values

  • Paralleling should be attempted only when speeds (frequencies) are equal and generator voltages are equal and in phase
